Las Vegas Transit -- A Follow-up
Compares the RFG to my proposed system
Washoe RTC to rebrand transit services
I think I broke this news back in January, 2006. (there was a press release)
The second of two letters to the editor I had published in the Las Vegas Review-Journal about the RFG system. A rebuke of their take on Seattle's vote to kill the monorail.
The first letter published in the R-J. A more optimistic take on the potential of public transit in Las Vegas, if done right...
Before the 2005 general election in Seattle, I write why I will vote no on Monorail, and what I think can be done in the future to help straighten out the public transit situation in Seattle Metro.
I try to convince Las Vegas to become a hippie. She probably says no. I try to introduce to her some ideas how she can redefine what rail transit looks like and actually justify those wide streets.
In September, 2006, I argue for Sound Transit to consider a Broadway North station on Capitol Hill in its Link Light Rail system. Currently there is only one station in the plan for Capitol Hill, and this is a mistake.
Seattle: Revisiting the train to Ballard
Some plans for Sound Transit getting to and from Ballard with light rail.
Seattle: Why Aren't We New York Yet? pt 2
An expansion on a vision for a complete regional Metro for Seattle and the Eastside, begs for feedback to get a conversation going.
Appeal Reader Likes Light Rail and Other Douglas County News
In a letter to the editor to the Nevada Appeal, a Douglas County resident proposed light rail between Reno and Douglas County. I flesh out some of the considerations of building this kind of thing at the regional level.
Proposes getting moving now on building commuter rail along the I-80/UPRR corridor from Reno to Fernley.
More on Nevada Railways. A news update, plus some back-of-the-napkin financing numbers, caveats, and rider profiles.
Wahoe RTC Bus Service Examination
Inspired by a comment to a previous post, this is an examination into some things Washoe RTC could do to improve the transit situation in the Truckee Meadows.
Joining the recent conversation about the Reno BRT project. RTC's got its work cut out in the demand generation department.
Reno- Pedestrian & Transit Access to Work
I take a look at transit service in Reno by trying to get a friend to work via the bus. Not entirely pretty.
Transit Service & Regionalism Take Center Stage in Carson City
Talks about Carson City's idea to get some money from Douglas County for bus service, and the implications for both regional planning, and transit demand generation.
More on Carson Regional Transit
Takes a look at Carson/Douglas Regional Transit as it stands today, rider scenario, calls out issues, proposes solutions.
Las Vegas: The Monorail's Junk Bonds
In which I urge Las Vegas not to abandon a half-finished project, and try to get it thinking about how it could do useful things with the cool stuff it has.
